AYCA GOKER FORMS OF PURPOSE & BEYOND

Ayça Göker creates objects that move between the functional and the undefined—pieces born from a quiet dialogue with life, its subtleties, contradictions, and transient beauty. Each work distills moments, emotions, and ideas into forms that defy easy categorization.

These creations do not seek resolution but oer a pause—a space to inhabit, to question, to feel. Whether a painting, a sculptural form, or an object without a clear purpose, they exist as fragments of an ongoing dialogue between the self and life itself.

At times, they take the form of everyday objects or materials, seamlessly weaving into the flow of daily life. At others, they exist purely to evoke a contemplative encounter, opening a quiet space for reflection and a deeper connection to one’s own self. They invite more questions than answers, oering moments of stillness in a restless world.

Architectures of memory | 2022

Architectures of memory is a series that explores the interplay between form, void, and texture, where each piece becomes a fragment of an imagined landscapes. Cast in bronze and enriched with layered patinas, these works evoke a sense of time and transformation, as though shaped by the forces of erosion and recollection. These intricate geometries, abstract structures like blueprints of spaces that exist within the mind as in the material world. Through their shifting interplay of light and shadow, these sculptures open pathways for reflection, tracing contours of memory that feel at once familiar and unknown.

The work invites an exploration of repetition as a meditative act. The modules, identical in form, are animated by their interplay of colour and texture, offering infinite possibilities of arrangements. As a wall panel, tile, or sculptural composition, the piece becomes a tactile dialogue between rhythm and disruption asking the viewer to consider space not as static or fixed but as fluid, unfolding and open to reinterpretation. These sculptures open pathways for reflection, tracing contours of memory that feel at once familiar and unknown.

The memory vessel | 2024

Hand Forged Sılver.

The vessel holds the tension between fragility and permanence, embodying a quiet dialogue between the makers hand and time. The textured surface captures fleeting impressions of erosion, of flow, of movement frozen in metal. Reflecting both light and shadow, it invites the viewer to consider the beauty of imperfection and the traces left by process and touch.

ARCHITECTURES OF MEMORY: WOVEN NARRATIVES

This woven piece translates the Architectures of Memory series into a tactile exploration of form and material. Crafted from wool, bamboo, and silk threads, the work retains the geometric abstraction and layered textures of its sculptural origins, while introducing the softness and depth of textile art.

The interplay of fibers creates a dialogue between light and shadow, enhancing the rhythmic composition and inviting viewers to experience memory as something both tangible and ephemeral. This transformation from bronze to textile blurs the boundary between structure and fluidity, oering a new way to engage with the series’ contemplative essence.
